The Strathclyde Polis Traffic Appeal

This is an appeal for witnesses to a serious traffic incident which could have had a serious effect on the operation of one of Scotland's busiest A&E Departments

It appears that on the afternoon of the 27th of June 2011, there was a report of an accident directly outside the Accident and Emergency department of the Western Infirmary in Glasgow. The incident occured on the pedestrian crossing at the point where the ambulances approach the main building, and Strathclyde Police Traffic Section are looking for witnesses or anyone who can provide any information, however unimportant it may seem, to contact them.

Our reporter sent us some initial images from the scene, and managed to get initial reactions from some of the             " witnesses " who were gathered to watch.

Here are some of their reactions:

" It was pure dead offal so it wus... thurs this auld yin stoating aboot the road like a space-hopper oan a Mad Mick Tour an his carer is shoutin " who put they stripes oan the grun? "

" Ah wus staunin there son, when this wummin wus pushin an auld guy oan a wheelycher thingy acroass the road oan a stripey bit ..... when all of a suddin a taxi comes roon the coarner daein at less a hunner mile an oor, an an alien faws oot the back o the taxi wi a kebab is it's haun, reekin o' cheep aftershave an onions an pushes the wummin oot the way! The latest image from the scene is shown below..... we would warn our readers that discretion should be used when viewing the image, as some readers may find it disturbing !!!!!

Here is an image from another angle shortly afterwards when the Traffic Division had righted the wheelchair and spread sand on the road to avoid Ambulances skidding and leaving skid marks on the road
