The second " Bugle " for 2010
We are proud to announce that the club member, after whom this newsletter is named, has been nominated for and accepted the post of Vice President for the coming season of 2010. Another very popular announcement made at the AGM was that of the appointment of Honorary President to Joe Febers, who has done so much for the club over the years and continues to do so.
On the evening after the AGM, our lads were playing the last game of the CDBA short carpet league against Singers. Clydebank Bowling Club won the game, and therefore won the League for the 23rd time in 30 years. This is an exceptional achievement and I think we should all congratulate each and every player, organiser and supporter who gave up their time and made their own contribution in the success.
Thanks should also go to Singers for sharing the evening with us and tolerating our celebrations. A special mention to Billy Walsh who showed us some great photo`s from Australia and the transplant Olympics. Looking round the hall at Mick, Aitchy and Peter, we could send a team next time round !!!! ......Mad Mick`s Olympic Tours
As you can see in the photo`s below, the club`s Honorary Secretary, who is the President of the CDBA this year is presenting the Trophy to Jim Somerville on the first day in his new role as Immediate Past President.
Then a group photo. ( Mick thought it was a grope photo! )
This one has Mick behaving himself !!!
This one Tam goes a wee bit "O.T.T." and Peter says something to Mick
Then someone else said something to Mick
Then Mick said something to Aitchy....
The selectors receive the trophy.
President Sammy was in constant touch with Scott during halftime asking what the score was.... Unfortunately due to more pressing commitments President Sammy was unable to take part in the victory celebrations, even though he had been involved as a player over the course of the season.
Billy Adams looks puzzled in the photo`s here, taken during the match. This is probably because you are not supposed to use mobiles while the games are on!!!!!!!

You see the president was with us in spirit anyway :-}
And then we come to the unexpected presentation of the evening................
Brian gave a rousing presentation on the why`s and wherefores of the selection process, and then..
With a voice trembling with emotion, he started an extended speech on the many virtues of the member who was about to receive an award. ( For those of you interested in statistics the bottom lip trembling and crocodile tears bit lasted 47 seconds and the virtues of the member lasted just over 3 seconds.... )
The reward certificate can be seen here.........
This award was presented to Michael for his enthusiasm in promoting the Toy Scooter, which was due in no small part to the fact that he can`t throw it out of the cot at Snowhite !!
And also the fact that these scooters make great replacement hips and ankle plates when they are melted down
